Where It All Began
At Kupipankki, we noticed the same problem repeatedly: companies' equipment inventories grew, but maintenance data was scattered across Excel files and various systems, fault reports were sent by email, and maintenance tasks were often forgotten. No one knew exactly when the last maintenance was done or which equipment needed attention next. Something clearer and more practical was needed.
Ilkka Sillanpää and Henrik Salmela decided to do something about it. Ilkka brought extensive experience in developing management systems and production processes across industries. Henrik contributed software development expertise and a fresh perspective on how digitalizing maintenance could genuinely simplify daily work. They aimed to build a clear maintenance solution suited for SMEs without heavy implementation projects.
Joining them was Toni Järveläinen, who had long supported companies in sales and customer development. Toni understood the critical role systematic maintenance plays in productivity — and how properly structured it could reduce downtime and support decision-making.
Together, we created Kupipankki: a maintenance software that brings equipment, maintenance, faults, and spare parts into one clear system — without heavy onboarding or unnecessary hassle. Early versions were developed in close collaboration with pilot customers from various industries. This early partnership ensured the solution meets real needs and is widely applicable for different companies.
